When a Judge is wrong on facts or law, will correcting him be contempt of court?

One has to be respectful to the court. One cannot ridicule the court. But that does not mean that one has to be scared of saying the things that one thinks is right.

Once I appeared in the court for paying a traffic challan. The client was asked to prove his identity by way of an affidavit. There was no need because there were lot of other id proof with the client.

Then the judge asked that the affidavit has to be on Rs. 10/- stamp paper. There were 10s of advocates who started giving the affidavits on Rs. 10/- stamp paper. Though every one knew that affidavits are not required to be given on stamp paper.

But no one had the courage to say anything. In this setting can we expect justice in the country.
